Geoffrey O’Brien

Landscape
The gutters are connected to the streams.
A wire runs through the mountains
In the mineral veins
Traces of the city persist and diffuse.
The reservoir shudders in its casing.

Disrupted by tiny roads
The countryside waits for war
Or the outbreak of disease
Rangers measure the forest.
The governors hide behind vines.
